Fix Harsh Shifting & Transmission Issues – ECM / TCM Combined Module

This is a repair service for the Engine Control Module (ECM) on 2001–2005 Toyota RAV4 models (both 2WD and 4WD) that are experiencing harsh or erratic transmission shifting.

These models use a combined ECU/TCM unit that is prone to failure, often mimicking a faulty transmission, when in fact the issue is with the control module.

✅ Common Symptoms:

  • Harsh or delayed shifting, especially into 3rd gear

  • Erratic or unpredictable gear changes

  • Slamming into reverse

  • Feels like the car is braking by itself

  • Clicking or rattling noises from the front of the vehicle

  • Inconsistent behaviour—fine one day, failing the next

  • Issues present only when hot or cold

  • Sluggish takeoff from a stop

  • Often no check engine light or codes, but when present:

    • P0750 / P0753 / P0755 / P0758 / P1760
