Fix Harsh Shifting & Transmission Issues – ECM / TCM Combined Module
This is a repair service for the Engine Control Module (ECM) on 2001–2005 Toyota RAV4 models (both 2WD and 4WD) that are experiencing harsh or erratic transmission shifting.
These models use a combined ECU/TCM unit that is prone to failure, often mimicking a faulty transmission, when in fact the issue is with the control module.
✅ Common Symptoms:
Harsh or delayed shifting, especially into 3rd gear
Erratic or unpredictable gear changes
Slamming into reverse
Feels like the car is braking by itself
Clicking or rattling noises from the front of the vehicle
Inconsistent behaviour—fine one day, failing the next
Issues present only when hot or cold
Sluggish takeoff from a stop
